During this time of the COVID-19 shutdown, all Hope Women’s Centers remain open for limited hours to distribute material resources (food and toiletries) to clients. The staff wear gloves and masks to hand out food and are adhering to safe social distancing guidelines. In addition, Hope mentors are counseling women by phone and teachers are recording and uploading parenting and abuse classes for clients.
Last week the five Hope locations combined saw an average of 60 women per day. Coolidge’s numbers were more than double any other center, and they handed out 240 meals (breakfast and/or lunch) to women and their family members.
As you might imagine, the number of domestic violence calls to Hope Women’s Center has increased. This is especially challenging because shelters are not accepting new clients until they can be cleared with a COVID-19 test, and they can’t get a COVID-19 test unless they have symptoms, which automatically disqualifies them from the shelter! Let’s remember to pray for these women.

Hope Women’s Center (HWC) serves women facing any difficult life situation. Whether they are faced with poverty, domestic or sexual abuse, unplanned pregnancy, unemployment, single parenting, prostitution, drug/alcohol abuse, or family conflict. HWC relies on trained mentors and teachers to provide assistance, encouragement, support, and the necessary tools to make positive changes for their future.
Hope Women’s Center has five centers across Arizona; Phoenix, Apache Junction, Maricopa, Coolidge and the West Valley. These outreach centers provide education, mentoring, material resources, free pregnancy testing and community resource referrals. These centers provide support for their clients physical, emotional and spiritual needs.
