Statement of Faith
WE BELIEVE the Bible to be the inspired, inerrant and infallible Word of God and the only rule of faith and practice. We believe that God is a Spirit, and that there are three Persons in the Godhead: the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. These three are one God, the same in substance, equal in power and glory.
WE BELIEVE that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, who became man. He took to Himself a true body, yet without sin, conceived in the Virgin Mary by the power of the Holy Spirit. He offered Himself a sacrifice for sins to satisfy divine justice and to reconcile man to God through faith in Him. We believe in the bodily resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ.
WE BELIEVE that man is saved from sin by grace through faith in Christ, apart from works of the law. This spiritual birth is a work of God’s Holy Spirit, resulting in a new life of obedience to Christ and in growing likeness to Him. The Holy Spirit indwells every believer.
WE BELIEVE that at death the souls of believers pass immediately into glory, and that their bodies rest in the grave until the resurrection when these bodies will be glorified and reunited with their souls in the presence of the Lord forever. Unbelievers will be eternally separated from God in judgment. We also believe in the personal return of the Lord Jesus Christ in power and glory according to His promise.
As a fuller expression of what we believe, we hold to A Faith to Confess, (the London Confession of Faith of 1689). Our ultimate authority in all matters of faith and life is the Word of God alone as recorded in the Old and New Testaments. The 1689 Confession is an excellent summary of “the things most surely believed among us.” This fuller statement of what we believe is a confirmation in faith and for the edification of the Church in the “whole counsel of God,” Acts 20:27.
